Call for Session Proposals Now Open!

Present a session at the 2026 MALHM Annual Conference & Meeting in Mankato, MN! Sessions will take place on Wednesday & Thursday (April 29-30, 2026).

Advocacy Survey— Share your thoughts!

In a time of increasing threats to the public history field, the Alliance has assembled a new team to focus on advocacy. The Advocacy Team will work to promote the interests of the MALHM membership and Minnesota local history community as a whole. 

 

As the team gets going, we’re asking for your input:

  • What should we prioritize in our advocacy?

  • What resources can we provide to help make your work easier?

MALHM is now accepting nominations for the 2026 MN History Awards & Lifetime Achievement Awards.

 

To be eligible, projects must have come to a completion between July 1, 2024 and October 1, 2025. Lifetime Achievement Awards honor local history professionals & volunteers who have made outstanding contributions and demonstrated leadership to Minnesota’s history community over 25+ years.

What does the Alliance do?

The Minnesota Alliance of Local History Museums (MALHM) serves 500+ local history groups throughout the state. MALHM offers: professional training and networking, awards for excellence, mutual assistance in times of disaster, and more. 

Although Minnesota's history groups serve different communities, they share a common mission of connecting people to nearby history. Alliance members operate with different levels of resources. Some have professional staff, but many are small, volunteer-run societies. Together, we work to raise the quality of the local history field in Minnesota.
